techUK is convening its inaugural Subsea Cables Summit to shape the current policy and regulatory debate on subsea cables, the UK's internet resilience and lessons we could learn from other jurisdictions on this matter. We will learn some key insights following a detailed sector review, explore user needs and how essential subsea cables are to the UK’s economic security and innovation.
Subsea cables form an essential element of internet infrastructure and deliver its resilience - however, the cables themselves are at risk of accidental, environmental and deliberate damage and sabotage.
It is therefore imperative that techUK examines the UK's subsea regulatory model and market development to ensure we are not vulnerable to future disruption, face barriers to inward investment, miss out on the UK’s role as a data services leader.
Attendees and speakers will include representatives from the incumbent subsea cable telecoms operators; subsea cable vendors and commercial repair and maintenance firms, and industry bodies; security stakeholders; end-users; and independent industry experts.
